Gotherington Hedgehog Trail was first set up by The Old Chapel Community Project in 2019 with 88 decorated hedgehogs hidden around Gotherington. Last year we had a record breaking 310 hedgehogs spread across Gotherington and over to Woolstone, covering almost every road and footpath!
Each year we ask for new hedgehog designs from children and adults in the village and surrounding areas and then print them onto a composite aluminium by the wonderful Steve at SP Printing in Tewkesbury. Every hedgehog is sponsored by the artist to cover the cost of production, who then get to keep their very special hedgehog as a souvenir at the end of the Trail.
Our 2026 Hedgehog Trail is due to launch at the end of September and we are looking for LOTS of fabulous new designs to fill our footpaths!! The theme for 2026 is ‘ALL THINGS WILD’ which can be anything from our own wildlife to wild animals from around the World. It could be the Wild Wild West, Wild and Wacky or any other interpretation you can come up with! To enter a design for this year’s Trail just print off a template below or pop into Gotherington Stores to pick up a hard copy, follow the hints and tips and return your designs to Gotherington Stores by the start of August.

Every year, Trail Guides are produced containing pictures of all the hedgehogs that have been designed and are hidden, waiting to be ticked off when found. All money raised through the sale of the Trail Guides is shared between the three charities supported by the Hedgehog Trail.
Last year each charity received £1000. In total, so far, the Hedgehog Trail has raised over £20,000 for charity.
